Burns Pet Nutrition Dog Food
Burns
Pet Nutrition have been around for a while and were at the forefront in the
UK of using natural antioxidants such as Tocopherols and Rosemary Oil in the
food.
What you get with Burns is a low fat, low protein food which is naturally preserved and suits most pets, although it is well documented on forums that some dogs struggle to keep weight on with Burns.
Research does seem to indicate that a lean dog is a healthy dog however, so don't get too worried about a lack of too much body fat!
For breeds such as Westies this works very well particularly where there are skin problems - there's plenty would testify to that.
Price-wise, Burns is not cheap (at around £42+ for a 15kg bag) and compares with James Wellbeloved which is a very similar food. Feeding costs/day are not so high as feeding amounts/day are not as high as with some cheaper foods, so although you're paying out a lot to stock up, if fed correctly the bag should last you longer.
You can usually find Burns cheaper on sites like Pet Supermarket
If you have a dog which is prone to weight gain, and labradors spring to mind here, then it might be worth giving Burns a try - feeding rates are low however, so be careful that you don't overfeed as there is a real tendency with a food that is highly digestible to feel that you are not giving enough.
